Learn more about Grant

Grant has over 14 years of certified teaching and tutoring experience, both virtually and in the classroom. He is passionate about helping his students and provides comprehensive support tailored to each student’s particular needs. Grant enjoys assisting learners with grasping complex topics by breaking them down into simple parts. Grant has an easygoing and approachable way about him but is always willing to adjust his approach as needed.

Grant has earned teaching certifications in physics, general science, chemistry, and mathematics—scoring in the 100th percentile for the Praxis Test in math grades 6-12. Grant has taught a variety of high school STEM courses, including AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Calculus, Pre-AP Chemistry, and introductory-level Physics, Chemistry, Physical Science, Algebra 2, and Data Analysis. He also holds a Google Professional Certificate in Data Analytics and is certified in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Power BI.

Grant’s AP Physics students have averaged well over a 4.0 score on their AP exams, with over 94% passing with a 3.0 or higher. Grant firmly believes grasping both content and test structure are essential to success. Grant bases tutoring plans on students’ actual assessments so they won’t be surprised by anything on exam day.

Grant was born and raised in La Porte, Indiana, before graduating magna cum laude from Wabash College with a degree in rhetoric. Yes, you read that correctly: rhetoric—not physics. But Grant has always known his passion is in teaching. He joined Teach for America and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he taught for 14 years. He now lives in North Port, Florida (Sarasota County), with his wife and three daughters.

Grant began teaching STEM courses early on in his career and first needed to self-learn those disciplines. He knows what it can be like to struggle with a topic. And that’s exactly what sets Grant apart from other tutors and instills him with the necessary knowledge, skills, and empathy to assist those who find a particular subject difficult. Now, Grant is his own best teaching success story.

Fun (yet somewhat embarrassing) fact: Grant has memorized 23,000 digits of pi and holds the world record in fastest to recite 1,000 digits of pi. He has been featured on a Veritasium and International Book of Records YouTube videos. Watch at your own risk.
